Kopeva is a portable work surface created by Riley Alexis, Mark Choi and myself. It was done in collaboration with Emily Carr University and Bo-Concept with the purpose of imagining the world ten years from now, in a fast paced environment.
It acts as a portable device, a semi-permanent side table and as a magazine rack. The goal was for it to act as a home accessory but also be easy enough to transition into its portable state, which challenges the traditional aesthetic of a business suitcase. It consists of seven layers of veneer assembled by a single piece of felt, and a lid that acts as a locking mechanism and a surface.
It is a product that gives the user agency in terms of use.
